Health Challenge: Heart Attack

Greatest Motivation: When you have a heart attack, sometimes you feel like you’re all alone. But when you hear other people, it removes the loneliness, and you build strong relationships. I lost 30 pounds and I feel like I’m being regenerated from the inside out. It lets me know that I’m gonna be okay.

His Story: I was walking with my wife just for exercise, and we got two blocks from our house, and I felt like something just reached out and grabbed my heart and squeezed it as hard as it could. It was just this is happening to me and I can’t believe this is happening to me. But it is. It was devastating. Six of my arteries were blocked. I had major surgery on my heart and they replaced all six of the arteries.

I felt that this (Kenneth then joined the UCLA Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Program (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation) was my opportunity to change. First there’s the physical exercise. And after that we have a meal, which is what I look forward to. And during the meal they also educate you on how to read labels, buy your food, and how to prepare your meals. They also have stress management and relaxation therapy. The last one is what we call a group session, where we support one another.

When you have a heart attack, sometime you feel like you’re all alone. It’s rough and challenging; it’s really emotional and you go through a lot of your different emotions and feelings. But when you hear other people, it removes the loneliness, and you build strong relationships. Since my heart attack , I lost 30 pounds and I feel like I’m being regenerated from the inside out. It lets me know that I’m gonna be okay.05
